Twenty-seven years ago, I landed in Sydney with a backpack, counting coins and chasing sunsets. If someone told that 22-year-old that one day people would pay to fly me back to speak on a stage in front of hundreds of my peers, well, he just wouldn’t have believed it. But that’s what happened in August. What’s wild is it’s not one big leap. It’s the little gains. The tiny, almost invisible steps compounded over time. Going back like that felt surreal and grounding. Grateful doesn’t even cover it. Grateful feels too small. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of those small steps.

Listening To: The One Minute Healer: Making Wellness Work for Busy People with Lakhmi Bhambray

In this episode, Lakhmi Bhambra dives into the nuances of integrating wellness into a hectic lifestyle. What I find fascinating is how Lakhmi demystifies the idea that you need vast amounts of time to take care of your well-being. Instead, she presents a series of “one-minute strategies” that anyone can incorporate into their day, regardless of their schedule.

Listening to Lakhmi, I was reminded of the small adjustments that stack up to create significant change. Whether it’s a brief moment of meditation, a quick gratitude exercise, or simply stepping outside to reset your mind, these micro-actions hold the power to transform how you feel and function. In a world that often equates wellness with hours at the gym or time-consuming routines, Lakhmi’s approach is both refreshing and accessible to everyone.

Reading: Origin by Dan Brown

Rereading “Origin” by Dan Brown in today’s AI-driven world is both enlightening and frightening. It’s hard not to draw parallels between the book’s speculative future and our current reality. Brown crafts a tale that challenges our perceptions of creation and existence through the lens of cutting-edge technology and science. Whether you’ve read it before or are picking it up for the first time, “Origin” offers a thought-provoking narrative that mirrors some of the questions we face today regarding artificial intelligence and ethics. It’s not just a gripping thriller; it’s a stark reminder of the accelerative pace of technological development and its implications for society.

Watching: Project Hail Mary

“Project Hail Mary” is an incredible movie that will make you think deeply about life on earth and beyond. The storyline follows an astronaut who finds himself on a mission that might just save our planet, with unexpected help. The film brilliantly explores themes of isolation, ingenuity, and the resilience of the human spirit. It poses profound questions about our place in the universe and the lengths we might go to preserve our world. It’s science fiction that feels not too far from reality, which, in my view, is precisely what makes it so powerful and riveting.

TED Talk: Aimee Mullins: My 12 Pairs of Legs

Aimee Mullins’ TED talk, “My 12 pairs of legs,” is an extraordinary reflection on the power of reframing adversity as an advantage. Mullins, a model and athlete, tells her story not just through her challenges but by showcasing her ability to redefine human potential. The talk is profoundly inspiring, illustrating how using innovative technology in her prosthetics has allowed her to excel in unexpected ways, turning what some might view as a limitation into boundless opportunities. Her narrative pushes us to rethink our assumptions about ability and to embrace the unique features that make us who we are.

Tech: AI Guiding AI

Rather than thinking about AI as a single entity doing all the work, consider a new strategy: AI driving AI. For instance, using ChatGPT to draft a prompt for Replit to then build an app, and having Claude review the code afterwards. This layered approach can be much more effective. This strategy is a game changer; not a specific tool per se, but a method of leveraging different AI tools’ strengths to achieve something larger seamlessly. It’s an innovation that dramatically improves efficiency and accuracy in processes that otherwise would require significant human intervention or expertise.
