TRIBEathlon Podcast

Episode 53: Tracy Moseley is a British professional racing cyclist, specialising in downhill mountain bike racing.

From growing up on a farm with a BMX, to following her brother into a mountain competition, she went on to become World Downhill Champion, 3 x World Enduro Champion and 2 x World Cup DH Overall Champion…to name just a few of her successes.

Being the first mountainbiker on the podcast I wanted to get to grips with the different types of off-road racing, the impact of e-bikes, and the best places in the UK and abroad to explore the trails.

What I’ve Been Writing

It’s always nice to be able to recommend a book that I’ve written, and for the fourth time, I can do that here. The Life Legacy Gift: Creating a Lasting Legacy Whilst Living a Fulfilled Life, will be published by the end of this week. It is a project that I’ve wanted to write for some time, but it has taken me a while to get my head around the best way to achieve it; and a book was my conclusion. I set out to create something for clients that could act as a guide to help them create the best legacy possible for their loved ones, whilst still having more than enough for themselves. However, this isn’t just about how much money you are leaving as an inheritance, because the legacy you leave is about so much more than that. This book acts as a guide to some of the ‘admin’ around your estate; all the silly things like passwords, where you store your Will, what organisations you are a member of and the hidden safe you’ve told no one about until now. It’s also about passing on your stories, your life lessons and your beliefs for the generations to come. It comes with The Life Legacy Planner, a guide to helping you complete all of the necessary steps to ensure that you can leave the best legacy possible.

Raising Money

No, not me this time, but rather Olympic gold medallist, Old Oakhamian and TRIBEathlon podcast guest, Crista Cullen. Crista’s charity, Tofauti, has started an initiative called Together for Water; a fun, inspiring and empowering event where people come together in a collective effort to get moving and virtually travel the 6,000 miles from the UK to Kenya. Walk, wheel, run, cycle, row, swim – it’s up to you.

The project is about building resilience not reliance among Africa’s communities and wildlife. Whatever your activity or accumulative movement, you can join the event. I encourage you to go to Together for Water and get involved. African women and children can spend hours a day walking many miles just to fetch water for themselves and their families; let’s get active, so they don’t have to.

Increasing Productivity

It takes a lazy man to find the shortest route, and a keyboard shortcut is a great way to speed up your productivity online. I found a couple of new shortcuts this week that I will be using going forward. I am sure you all know how to speed up our PC productivity through cut, copy, paste, select all or undo (read here if you don’t), but a couple of new ones on me were:

If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”

Finance Theme I’ve Been Considering

In my new book The Life Legacy Gift, I talk about the impact of passing on our stories and life learning to the next generation. When you have a life changing experience, tick off a major bucket list item or hit an important goal, you usually come away with some significant life lessons. Aspects that change the way you think for the rest of your life that, without care, can be lost when you are gone.

Wouldn’t it be a shame if your loved ones had to make the same mistakes that you’ve made in order to progress in their life? Imagine if Edison hadn’t shared his life lessons and we all had to invent 1000 light bulbs before we could ditch the candles! That’s why creating the best legacy possible actually takes some effort.

If you’d like a free copy of The Life Legacy Gift, either for you or for perhaps your parents, email Charlotte@efficientportfolio.co.uk as we will be giving away a limited number of paperback copies. You never know, you might get lucky and be able to create an even better legacy!
