This week I saw Wolf Alice perform at the Eden Project. One of my favourite bands performing in an iconic and unique venue was an opportunity to tick off two things from my bucket list all at once. As I stood there, immersed in the music and the atmosphere, I wondered, how often do we really allow ourselves to pursue and savour those moments that reignite our passion?
Financial planning might not seem like the most thrilling topic, yet Paul Spires delivers it with a refreshing perspective- one where the client is truly at the heart. In this podcast, Spires breaks down the philosophy of fee-based planning, moving away from the old commission-based models and focusing instead on transparency, trust, and aligning interests with those of the client. It’s a compelling listen for anyone looking to ensure their financial strategies genuinely support their life’s goals.
What I found particularly fascinating was the emphasis on building a business around passion, not just profit. Spires argues that when you prioritise purpose and clarity for your clients, success naturally follows. In a world often dominated by quick wins and short-term gains, this approach offers a much-needed shift, underpinning the success of those who do what they love.
Reading: You Are Not Broken by Christopher Michael Duncan
In ‘You Are Not Broken’, a companion piece to the fiction-based ‘The Superconscious Path’, the Duncan explores a transformative approach to manifestation and self-help. At its core, the book argues that you don’t need to “fix” yourself to create a life you love. Instead, it teaches you to tap into a hidden field of intuition and inner guidance.
What’s refreshing here is the departure from typical self-help tropes that demand healing or conforming to specific beliefs. This book presents a complete system in an accessible eight-week plan, encouraging readers to see themselves as powerful creators. By reframing how we engage with life’s possibilities, it promises to transform your reality like magic- no fixing required.
TED: Caroline Webb: How to Have a Good Day.
In Caroline Webb’s talk, she illuminates how small behavioural adjustments can dramatically enhance our daily performance. Her insights are simple yet profoundly transformative, offering ways to shift our mindset to improve our experience of the everyday grind.
What I found particularly engaging was how these changes aren’t monumental or daunting. Webb encourages a focus on things like mindset, attention, and how we handle setbacks to not just survive, but thrive. Implementing these minor adjustments is straightforward, yet they collectively redefine what it means to have a “good day”, suggesting that success is largely down to intentional changes in our behaviours.
Watching: Mindhunter Season 2
‘ Mindhunter’ Season 2 takes us deep into the late 1970s where pioneering FBI agents strive to unlock the psychology of serial killers. At its heart, though, the series focuses on the personal sacrifices agents make to advance criminal science. It’s a compelling exploration of the delicate balance between professional commitment and personal wellbeing.
Each episode reveals how challenging it is to engage so deeply with the darkest aspects of human behaviour while trying to maintain personal equilibrium. The psychological depths plumbed by the agents serve as a stark reminder of the barriers we often push through, sometimes at a cost to ourselves, to drive change and understanding.
Tech: Higgsfield AI
Just a few weeks ago, I mentioned Higgsfield AI’s capabilities in video creation, and now I’m excited to share with you a video we produced using it. The finished product is nothing short of impressive. Compared to a couple of years ago, when such production might have required significant time and budget, the efficiency and quality of Higgsfield’s output are remarkable.
While it might not be absolutely perfect, the leaps technology is making in creative fields are astonishing. Tools like these are not just about savings and streamlining – they’re changing who gets to tell stories and how those stories are shared, democratising access to high-quality production.
